Google has become so much a part of the Internet that is easy to forget that there are different search engines available. The sites here tend to focus on making the search results more visual and in so doing make the Internet more attractive to students.

1. Search Me - This is one of my favourite tools. Search me allows you to search the web for pages, video, sound etc. The results are presented very similar to album covers on Ipod. What makes this tool so special is that a teacher can gather their favourite sites together in a 'stack' which can then be shared with students. In a few minutes it is possible to create a set of resources for a project which are presented in a very visual manner. The example below is for the Amazon.



2. Eyeplorer - This is an unusual tool which could have several applications. In essence it enables you to search the Internet and quickly gather the keyfacts around a topic by following the links that Eyeplorer suggests. I suppose it is a bit like a search thesaurus. Best way to see what it can do is to try it.

3. Spezify - Presents your findings on what appears to be a giant message board. I found a little confusing to see my results presented in this manner but may suit som
